Senator Walter Fontana has been a collector and patron of the Milanese artistic scene since the post-war period and has collected throughout his life an important collection of modern and contemporary Italian art.
The Collezione Walter Fontana s composed by over one hundred and fifty works of modern and contemporary art which represent some of the main Italian artistic trends of the 20th century.
The collection has been gathered over the span of more than half a century through direct relationships with artists and purchases in major art galleries and auction houses and it is still a dynamic and ever-evolving.
Within the collection the artists are represented with significant and iconic works of their production that can be divided into different groups that mainly include artworks referring to abstract-informal trends, object painting, pop art and figurative art.
